Evolucija is a Serbian-Swiss band that has released two studio albums. Their second album, “Hunt”, was declared the best metal album of 2019 in Germany. They have performed numerous concerts in Serbia and abroad, including a successful tour in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, and Switzerland, sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in the global Heavy Metal scene, such as Doro Pesch, Paradise Lost, Children of Bodom, Tyr, Pestilence, Destruction, and others.
In the near future, they are set to release a new studio album that was mixed and mastered at the renowned Swedish “Fascination Street Studios” under the supervision of Jens Bogren and Linus Corneliusson. They have collaborated with some of the biggest names in the Serbian and regional rock scene on this album.
The new album is announced with a single titled “The Earth is Full of Rats”. We asked Dragiša, the band’s frontman, why they chose this particular song…
“This song, like all our songs, came about spontaneously. You start, and you don’t know where it will lead, and that’s why, in my opinion, music is one of the most beautiful things. The title could be both provocative and arouse curiosity among listeners about what awaits them on the album. It could also become a symbol of the album’s message and draw listeners’ attention to important issues. I’m not sure if this song represents the entire album best, but it certainly stands out, especially because of the duet with Žanil Žak Tataj (ex Divlje Jagode), who is undoubtedly one of the best vocalists in our region and beyond.”
You’ve been preparing the album for a long time, probably about three to four years. The last time we talked, there were plans for 10 songs. Tell us more about it, what can the audience expect, and how does this album differ from its predecessors?
“For us, this is a special project because we’ve worked on it for a very long time, during a period of the greatest isolation for humanity and the disasters that have befallen us. The album features 10 songs that we carefully selected to express certain themes or emotions that inspired us. We hope our audience will enjoy listening to this new endeavour and find something they can connect with or that will inspire them in positive thinking. Today, we are starting the promotion of the new album. We believe there is a significant difference compared to the previous ones, and we can’t wait to share it with everyone and receive the first reactions from the listeners.”
There is also a new collaboration with Deadfall Management, who are expected to take care of promoting Evolucija. How satisfied are you with the collaboration so far?
“The collaboration with Deadfall Management is very important to us. They truly put a lot of effort into promoting the band, and those who follow us will soon notice the change. I should also mention that we worked with one of the founders of Deadfall Management (Roberto Risso) even before the pandemic, and we are glad to be working together again.”
Are there any record labels already involved?
“Regarding record labels, we are currently in discussions for both an English and Serbian album. In any case, as soon as we finalize any agreements, we will announce it immediately.”
