Pagan folk collective Sowulo have released a brand new single. The song “Nihtēagan” represents the next chapter in the band’s exploration on the moon phases, through which one can cyclical nature of the human psyche and the flow of life.
Sowulo comments:
“This song invites you to look inside, to see your cyclical nature and to see what lives in your subconscious. The waning moon is entwined with the returning darkness. From form to nothingness, and then from fullness to formless.”
The band, fronted by multi-instrumentalist and composer Faber Horbach, also a former performer in Heilung, have just performed at the prestigious Roadburn Festival, Midgardsblot Festival and Castlefest this summer.

With lyrics in Anglo-Saxon and music created with both historical and contemporary instruments, the creator and listener are challenged to go on an inner journey and to invoke archetypical wisdom from deep within.
Sowulo means ‘Sun’ in proto-germanic. Cycles can be found everywhere in Sowulo’s discography. The music follows our relationship with the Sun and tells the story of our inner and outer cycles of day and night, the four seasons, birth and death.”
The music of Sowulo is currently streamed over 20 million times on Spotify alone. The most popular track ‘Wulfwiga’ has reached over 4 million streams within 3 years.
Since 2013, Sowulo released four completely different concept albums:

· Sol (2016): Recomposed and reinvented acoustic version of the debut album
· Mann (2019): An expression of the four seasons within, through the four archetypes:
King, Lover, Warrior and Magician
· Wurdiz (2022): Wurdiz, the proto-germanic word for destiny, is all about the dance between fate and free will.
