The magic of Ptolomea starts with “Fado”

Priscila Da Costa presented her new single and videoclip, “Fado”, which she has chosen to perform in her mother tongue, Portuguese. The release of Ptolemea’s debut album, planned for January 2023, is getting close… Far from the image of traditional fado, this intense title with mysterious sounds and images, defines more and more Ptolemea’s musical identity.

The song is titled “Fado”, which means destiny in Portuguese, or the power to create our own destiny. Fado is in a way a ritual for the soul, a moment of deep listening of one-self to discover what needs to be let go of. By experimenting this time with the fire element, the ego is exposed.

The video shows it, especially when Priscila juggles with the fire poi, and overcomes the fear of fire and gains self-confidence in the process. The message is simple: thanks to their thirst for learning, creating and sharing, Human Beings can overcome their fears and get nearer to the essence of their soul to fulfill their destiny.

Recorded by Falcon the producer, Sacha Hanlet at Studio “Them Lights” at Kulturfabrik (Esch/Alzette, LU), Fado was mixed by Charel Stoltz (Holz Sound, LU) and mastered by Jon Tornblom from ‘Transparent-mastering (CA ) and written by Priscila Da Costa. It was in Luxembourg that she wanted to shoot this new music video: the lights of the city in the distance, an incipient fire at the edge of the fields… The whole story is there. The sun sets, the magical atmosphere in the outskirts of Luxembourg city gives way to the dark night where the Moon can reign with its quiet strength. The fire is alive and omnipresent. The video shows Priscila spending a moment one-on-one with him… to the rhythm of Fado, between singing, dancing and meditation.

Ptolemea celebrates its fifth anniversary this year and continues to advance on the path of its destiny with an ever more bewitching pagan rock, dark folk sound. This new single Fado confirms the musical intentions and the vision of the artist. As she says:

“Fire brings me strength and openness. It helps to purify and provides a feeling of protection inviting our soul to overcome its fears. I think that fire takes part in the elevation of the spirit. The creation of Fado as well as the realisation of the videoclip were definitely a key step in this experience.”

In line with the previous single “Inspiration”, “Fado” is a quality creation to be found in V’s first album, which is scheduled for release in early 2023 at the Rockhal Club in Esch/Alzette (LU).
