Moonspell to Headline Belgrade Concert with Iotunn and TodoMal on April 2, 2027

Portuguese gothic metal legends “Moonspell” will return to Belgrade on Friday, April 2, 2027, headlining a show at “Zappa Barka” as part of their “God Is a Vampire” tour. The band, fronted by charismatic vocalist Fernando Ribeiro, will bring their signature blend of dark melodies, crushing riffs, and gothic atmosphere to the Serbian capital. Danish-Faroese progressive metal band “Iotunn” will join them as special guests, while Spanish doom metal duo
“TodoMal” will open the evening. Presale tickets are available for to 4,100 RSD through the Hangtime website. Tickets costing 4,500 RSD on the day of the concert. Physical tickets will soon be available at Katakombe Bar and Zappa Bar.

Formed in 1992 in the outskirts of Lisbon, “Moonspell” have grown into one of the most recognizable and influential names in European metal. The band first attracted the underground scene’s attention with the “Under the Moonspell” EP before establishing their cult status with “Wolfheart”, released by “Century Media Records” in 1995. Their follow-up, “Irreligious”, arrived in 1996, expanding their reach and cementing their place among the defining acts of gothic metal. More than three decades into their career, “Moonspell” continue to balance heaviness, melancholy, and theatrical darkness. Their passionate live performances have helped maintain a strong connection with audiences around the world, while their willingness to explore different musical territories has kept their sound distinctive throughout the years. The band’s latest chapter is marked by “Far From God”, released on July 3, 2026, through Napalm Records. Following five years of creative exploration, the album brings Moonspell back to the dark romanticism and intensity that made them renowned. Producer Jaime Gomez Arellano, known for his work with “Paradise Lost”, “Sólstafir”, and “Ghost”, helped shape a sound that combines the atmosphere of “Moonspell’s” classic era with contemporary production.

The title track explores the tragedy of vampiric love, while “Cross Your Heart” and “The Great Wolf in the Sky” delve into loss, memory, and human connection. Fernando Ribeiro’s deep vocals, layered keyboards, and dense guitar arrangements form the backbone of an album that the label describes as their “Irreligious” for the 21st century. “Moonspell’s” current lineup features Fernando Ribeiro on vocals, Ricardo Amorim on guitar, Pedro Paixão on keyboards, Aires Pereira on bass, and Hugo Ribeiro on drums.

Joining “Moonspell” in Belgrade, “Iotunn” bring a powerful combination of progressive metal, melodic death metal, and expansive atmospheric soundscapes. Formed in Copenhagen in 2015, the Danish-Faroese band is built around brothers and guitarists Jesper and Jens Nicolai Gräs, whose love of 1970s rock gradually evolved into an ambitious and wide-ranging metal sound. A defining element of Iotunn’s music is the voice of Jón Aldará, whose commanding clean vocals and extreme vocal delivery complement the band’s intricate guitar harmonies and cinematic arrangements. Following their 2016 EP “The Wizard Falls”, “Iotunn” released their debut full-length album, “Access All Worlds”, in 2021 through Metal Blade Records. Their second album, “Kinship”, followed in 2024, expanding their musical scope across eight compositions exploring human nature, relationships, and the consequences of our choices. The band’s live power was captured on “Waves over Copenhell”, released in 2026 and recorded at the renowned Danish festival.

Opening the evening will be “TodoMal”, a Spanish band formed in 2020 by Christopher B. Wildman and Javier Fernández, two experienced multi-instrumentalists from the country’s underground music scene. Their sound combines the weight and solemnity of traditional doom metal with the spacious textures of space rock. Elements of church music, classic hard rock, and cinematic atmosphere further enrich their compositions, creating a hypnotic musical experience that moves between crushing heaviness and expansive, melancholic passages. “TodoMal” made their full-length debut with Ultracrepidarian in 2021, building immersive compositions inspired by the desolate landscapes of rural Spain. Their second album, “A Greater Good”, arrived in 2023, developing an even denser and more layered sound that attracted attention from specialist music publications. Their third album, “Graveyards of Joy”, was released in July through “Season of Mist”, continuing the band’s exploration of melancholy, loss, and abandoned landscapes. Although originally formed as a duo, “TodoMal” have expanded into a five-piece live lineup featuring additional guitar, drums, keyboards, and vocals. They have performed at festivals including “Be Prog! My Friend”, “Under the Doom”, and “Frantic Fest”, sharing stages with established acts such as “Candlemass”, “My Dying Bride”, and “Dødheimsgard”.

The same lineup will also perform at Zagreb’s Boogaloo on March 24, 2027, with both concerts organized by Hengtajm.
