Everything is set for the big return of Serbian power/progressive metal powerhouse Alogia this Saturday at Zappa Barka, celebrating a quarter of a century of their existence with a major solo show.
Alogia was founded in 2000 by brothers Srđan and Miroslav Branković, along with their bandmates from Psychoparadox: Damir Adžić on drums, Branislav Dabić on keyboards (later replaced by Vladimir Đedović), and Ivan Vasić on bass, with singer Ivica Lauš, who was later replaced by Nikola Mijić.
Blending power and progressive metal elements, Alogia quickly became one of the most sought-after bands to see and hear live, especially after the release of their debut album “Priče o vremenu” in 2002. After a number of solo shows in Serbia and neighboring countries, the band recorded their second album, “Priče o životu” in 2004. Their popularity peaked shortly afterward, culminating in a major solo show at SKC, which resulted in the live album and DVD release “Priče o vremenu i životu – Live at SKC”. Over the years, Alogia has shared the stage as an opening act for many world-renowned bands such as Whitesnake, Apocalyptica, Kamelot, and many others.
The band is celebrating 25 years since its formation with a show this Saturday, March 7, at Zappa Barka, promising a journey through time with songs from the first two albums, including “Bajka”, “Tonem u san”, “Samson”, “Metamorfoza”, “Novi dan”, “Amon”, “Kao snegovi”, and “Iznad vremena” as well as tracks from their later albums “Elegia Balcanica” and “Semendria.”
To mark the occasion, the band will also release their debut album “Priče o vremenu” on vinyl for the first time. Former members will return to share the stage with Mijić and the Branković brothers after many years.
Opening for Alogia is The Fifth Rider, a project by Mihajlo Tankosić, a lover of science fiction and ancient civilizations. His latest single, “No More,” tells the story of a Va’lu warrior, a being of light lost in the darkness of war, praying for his soul to remember the Golden Light.
