After a memorable performance in Belgrade in 2024, the Siberian ritual folk duo “Nytt Land” will return to the Serbian capital on May 21st for another atmospheric evening thanks to “Hengtajm” agency, this time performing at Zappa Barka. The concert will serve as a promotion for their latest studio album, “Aba Khan“, released in February of 2026.
The Belgrade audience already had the chance to witness the band’s unique live ritual during their previous visit at Zappa Baza in 2024, and the upcoming show promises another immersive journey into their mystical sonic world. The new album features eight tracks and marks the duo’s eleventh studio release.
Formed in 2013 in the Siberian town of Kalachinsk, more than 4,500 kilometers away from Belgrade, “Nytt Land” was founded by husband-and-wife duo Anatoly and Natalya Pakhalenko. The project blends ritualistic dark folk with elements inspired by shamanism, Nordic mythology, and the traditions of Siberian peoples. Their music combines ancient instruments such as the kantele and talharpa, throat singing, and ritualistic percussion to create an atmosphere often described as a spiritual journey through the tundra and taiga.
The duo draws strong inspiration from the natural landscapes of Siberia, incorporating field recordings of ravens and forest ambience into their compositions. Lyrically, their work often references Norse mythology and ancient texts such as the “Poetic Edda”, one of the most important sources of Scandinavian mythological tradition.
Since their formation, “Nytt Land” has built a dedicated following within the dark folk and pagan folk scene. They have performed across Europe at Viking, folk, and metal festivals and have previously shared stages with genre pioneers such as “Wardruna”.
Their last appearance in Belgrade was dedicated to the promotion of the 2023 album “Torem“, while the band has remained highly productive in the meantime. In 2025 they released “Songs of the Shaman“, an album interpreting traditional shamanic songs from Siberian cultures, followed by the brand-new “Aba Khan“ earlier this year, which they are currently promoting on their 2026 European tour.
Tickets for the Belgrade show are already available for the price of 2.400 RSD through Gigastix, while tickets at the door — if still available — will cost 2.700 RSD. Physical tickets will soon also be available at Katakombe Bar and Zappa Bar.
