Legendary American sludge metal band “Crowbar” return to Belgrade after 11 years on the 28th of July at KST. The band will be playing here as part of their European tour “Confess to Nothing”, courtesy of Hengtajm agency.
Originating from New Orleans, the band emerged from a heavy underground scene that developed in the early 1990s. That scene fused the crushing slowness of doom metal with the aggression of hardcore punk, giving birth to a style that later became known as sludge metal. “Crowbar” are widely considered one of the key pioneers of this sound. “Crowbar” was formed in 1990 and grew out of the local hardcore scene, gradually developing their distinctive blend of doom-laden heaviness and raw energy.
Their debut album, “Obedience thru Suffering” released in 1991, introduced the band to the underground metal community, but wider recognition came with the self-titled “Crowbar” released in 1993. Produced by Phil Anselmo, the album featured classic tracks such as “All I Had (I Gave)” and “Existence Is Punishment,” whose music videos even aired on “MTV’s Headbangers Ball”. Throughout the 1990s, the band cemented its reputation with influential releases including “Time Heals Nothing”, “Broken Glass”, and “Odd Fellows Rest”, albums that helped define the sound of the New Orleans sludge metal movement. Their music became known for massive downtuned riffs, emotionally heavy lyrics, and an atmosphere that blends sorrow, weight, and aggression.
At the center of the band’s identity is Kirk Windstein, the only constant member since its formation. Besides “Crowbar”, he has also played in projects such as “Down” and “Kingdom of Sorrow”, making him one of the most recognizable figures of the New Orleans heavy music scene. The band’s most recent studio album, “Zero and Below”, released in 2022, proves that even after more than thirty years Crowbar still deliver the same crushing heaviness and authenticity that earned them a loyal global following.
The Belgrade show will be an opportunity for fans to hear cult classics spanning the band’s entire career, along with newer material including songs from “Zero and Below”.
Presale tickets are available though Gigastix and will cost 3,700 RSD, while the price on the day of the concert will be available for 4,200 RSD. Physical tickets will soon be available at Katakombe Bar.
