After more intimate shows of US thrash metal veterans Testament and Exodus in the last two years, New York legends Anthrax are coming for their first non-festival show in Serbia, set for the 29th of May at an OpenAir corner of Luka Beograd, courtesy of Strangefear.
The legendary thrash metal band played a festival set in Kragujevac at Arsenal fest a few years ago, but this time they are coming in full force for a special show with a setlist consisting of over 40 years of hits, from A.I.R. and Caught in a mosh, Judge Dredd inspired I am the law to the legendary anthem Indians and Fight ‘em ‘till you can’t.
Anthrax was founded in 1981 in Queens district of New York City by Scott Ian and former bassist Dan Lilker, joined soon after by Dan Spitz, Neil Turbin and Charlie Benante on lead guitars, vocal duties and drums, to record “A fistful of metal”, their first album, gracing us with songs such as “Deathrider” and “Metal thrashing mad”. After a change in line-up, Lilker was replaced by Frank Bello on bass, while Joey Belladona replaced Turbin on vocals, to record their second release “Spreading the disease”, all except Spitz we’ll be seeing more than forty years later in Belgrade. After releasing critically and commercially successful albums “Among the living”, “State of euphoria” and “Persistence of time”, Belladona was replaced by Armored Saint singer John Bush in 1993, when the band recorded “Sound of white noise”. After recording three more albums and a re-recording of all their greatest hits for “The greater of two evils”, John Bush left the band while Joey Belladona returned for a second stint with the band from 2005 to 2007, and for a third and final time in 2010. Completing the current Anthrax line-up was former Shadows fall guitarist Jonatan Donais, replacing Rob Caggiano. Their latest studio album “For all kings” was released in 2016.
Tickets are available from the 6th of February for 5.700 RSD at all Gigastix stores and online at https://cooltix.rs/event/697b5992345515761bdf04bb
