Now I think it has come time to visit a country where’s metal scene has quite huge problems to exist, even if this country is located in the middle of Europe. At the same time I always had a very big sentiment towards it. Reason isn’t even about the fact that both Poland and Hungary have the same saying: Pole and Hungarian two brothers be. Of course, it certainly matters. I mean, both nations treat each other in a special way. But even more important here is the fact that one of the first albums of foreign ensemble I ever heard was a masterpiece called “Acélsziv”.

Anyway, I can’t tell you a lot about Neuropsy itself. I mean, I can only guess this is a young or even very young ensemble, because “Sketches…” is their first stuff ever. It contains five tracks and is released independently, of course only in digital version and is available on some portal dedicated to selling music. I think you know very well which one I’m talking about, but if by some miracle you don’t do it, then word band is a part of its name.  As I noticed it becomes as clear as a sun thing these days. Bands rarely decide to release their stuff on CDs nowadays, what’s a little pity in my world. At the same time, I somehow can understand it, even if I’m an old-school fan and my opinion about physical copies is like it is. But I know it also has a lot to do with economics. Besides, time runs, and everything changes – when I started my adventure with Underground ensembles, released demos on tapes, then came, let’s call it, CD-R’s era and now…

Creativity of our metal brothers who come from not too huge, but surely worth visiting, especially for people who like history, the town called Sopron is into the old-school thrash. Well, I’m actually sure a lot of those who read my scribble guessed it when they looked at the artwork. I know names of some Gods mentioned before sub-genre of our beloved kind of music crossed your minds as well. To be honest, it was the same in my case and it was especially the one created in 1980 by musicians born in New Jersey. But I also know it doesn’t take everyone. And even if there’d be only one person like that between you, my job is to describe it as well as it’s possible, to give you a common feeling of what you can expect from this EP, demo or what you want to call this stuff. However, if the band itself calls it an EP, then this is just an EP and my, and not only my, opinion in this point doesn’t matter at all! Besides, is nomenclature so important? Well, the only thing which does matter is music. Nothing else. These five songs are quite strongly based on sharp as razors riffs and energetic beating. So, trademarks are mentioned before sub-genre of metal. This is first of all dealing with the American old-school way of playing such music. Vocalizations are also associated with what’s more characteristic for North American Gods of thrash. This is of course most aggressive and, let’s call it, screechy and a bit hoarse singing, but still German style’s vocalists have slightly different manner of articulating sounds. I know these differences, also in several tracks’ structure, I’m talking about at the moment are quite subtle and possible to recognize only for quite experienced ears, but since I feel our magazine isn’t read by some random rookies, I know you can without any problem “read” these differences.

So, every real thrasher must check this EP released on March 21st . I know it’d be much better for most of us to have the possibility to listen to it on CD, to watch a booklet and so on. But as we used to say in Poland: if you don’t have what you like, you like what you have. Besides, there’s nothing stopping you from changing the current situation, right? And I somehow know there are some labels’ owners between our readers, so…

I was born quite a long time ago in Poland (1974) to support the scene and keep metal flames away, even though I officially started to listen to metal at age of 13. Few years later (4, maybe 5) I decided to edit my own fanzine and this adventure lasted over years. Then, after graduating journalism, I wrote reviews, made interviews and live reports for some magazines. I moved to Sweden and my journey continued. Finally I became a part of the Abaddon team, where I'll stay until the last breath!!! I'd like to develop together with this magazine.
