Serbian power/heavy metal group “The Fifth Rider” will be playing as support with “Ashes of Ares” this July.
“Ashes of Ares” is the group founded by Matt Barlow, after leaving “Iced Earth” in 2012, together with his former bandmate Freddie Vidales. As part their European tour, they will play a show in Belgrade on the 6th of July at “Zappa Barka” with “The Fifth Rider” as local support, thanks to organizers “Devotion booking”. “Ashes of Ares” will be playing the legendary “Iced Earth” album “The Dark Saga” in its entirety.
“The Dark Saga” album was released on the 23rd of May in 1996, Matt Barlow and Jon Shaffer share writing credits for the lyrics, while songwriting is credited to Shaffer and Randall Shawyer, the lead guitar player. “The Dark Saga” was conceived as a concept album based on the comic book character Spawn, created by Todd McFarlane and released by “Image comics”. It was the second album to feature Matt Barlow on vocals and was features a more subdued sound with focus on emotions and melodies compared to the previous releases.
