Belgrade’s industrial underground is about to get pulverized this summer as “Author & Punisher” and “King Yosef” join forces for a crushing performance at “KC Grad” on the 2nd of July, courtesy of “Nekroskop Booking” and “Mjolnir Promotions”, promises an intense night of industrial metal, noise, drone and experimental.
Led by mechanical engineer and multi-instrumentalist Tristan Shone, “Author & Punisher” has built a cult following through a completely unique approach to heavy music. Instead of relying on conventional instruments, Shone designs and constructs massive custom-built “Drone Machines” made from steel, aluminum, and industrial hardware, physically operating them live to create suffocating walls of sound. The result is a hypnotic blend of doom metal, industrial noise and dark electronica that has earned the project tours with acts such as Tool, Neurosis and Perturbator.
One of the most interesting facts about “Author & Punisher” is that Shone’s academic background directly shapes the music itself. Holding a degree in mechanical engineering, he treats live performance like an industrial process, turning physical strain and machine interaction into part of the sonic experience. His latest material reportedly draws inspiration from field recordings of birds along the US-Mexico border, further pushing the boundaries of experimental heavy music.
Joining him in Belgrade will be Portland-based solo artist “King Yosef”, the project of vocalist and producer Taylor Cassidy, who’s sound merges industrial hardcore, distorted electronics, blackened noise textures and emotionally charged vocals, often drawing comparisons to “Nine Inch Nails”, “Godflesh” and “Youth Code”. Cassidy originally emerged from the DIY hardcore scene before evolving toward a darker and more abrasive electronic direction, helping him become one of the rising names in the modern industrial underground.
