Fans of extreme metal in Serbia are about to witness a historic event as legendary Swedish deathrash band “The Crown” will perform their first and final concert in Serbia on 18th of September at “Zappa Baza” in Belgrade, thanks to “Nekroskop booking”. Organized as part of the band’s farewell run before officially ending their career later that year, the show is expected to become one of the most important underground metal events in the region this autumn.

Originally formed in 1990 under the name “Crown of Thorns”, “The Crown” quickly became one of the fiercest and most aggressive acts to emerge from the legendary Swedish extreme metal scene. Blending the brutality of death metal with the speed and energy of thrash, the band helped define the “deathrash” sound throughout the 1990’s and early 2000’s. Their relentless riffs, chaotic drumming and violent live performances earned them a devoted international fanbase alongside classic Scandinavian acts such as “At The Gates”, “Dark Tranquillity” and “The Haunted”.

“The Crown” was forced to temporarily change its original name, Crown of Thorns, after legal pressure from the estate of guitarist Jean Beauvoir’s project of the same name. The group officially became “The Crown” in 1998, shortly before releasing the now-classic album “Hell Is Here,” widely considered one of the defining releases of Scandinavian deathrash metal.

Over the decades, “The Crown” built a reputation for intense and uncompromising records including “Deathrace King”, “Crowned in Terror” and “Possessed 13.” The band also briefly featured the late Tomas Lindberg of “At the Gates” fame on vocals, further cementing their importance within the Swedish extreme metal movement. Their music combines the aggression of Slayer-style thrash with the precision and darkness of Swedish death metal, creating a sound that remains influential even today.

The Belgrade concert carries additional emotional weight because the band recently announced plans to cease activities by the end of 2026, making this appearance not only their Serbian debut but also the final opportunity for local fans to experience “The Crown” live.

Support at Zappa Baza will come from several notable regional heavy acts. Serbian groove/death metal force “Cut Eyes” will bring their modern aggressive sound to the stage, while “Dawn of Creation” and “Sunovrat” complete a lineup designed for fans of uncompromising underground metal.

Early bird tickets are priced at 2500 RSD, after which regular tickets will cost 3000 RSD, online tickets are available through Tickets.rs. Physical tickets, as well as special collectors edition tickets will soon be available.
