As I’ve noticed throughout all this time (since I was extremely effectively infected by metal bacterium have passed many, many years), some names are very popular among Metal bands. One of these words is phantom. Well, if you’re reading my scribble quite regularly, then you’ve noticed it. I mean, not too long ago I reviewed Bulgarian Phantom. And now has come time for the Mexican one. A common feature of both bands is that they’re both representatives of the young generation. It’s true that this Mexican Phantom, coming from the seventh most populous city of the country, is a bit older than this Bulgarian one – it was created in 2021. But it still was created about four years ago, so as you can see that they haven’t had some very impressive experiences. Well, the experience may not be too impressive, but the number of items they’ve already released is. This is (of course, I don’t count, as always, singles including only one song) about three demos, split, live album, compilation and just reviewed full-length. So, you’ll admit that for three years, the debut demo saw the daylight July 21st, 2022, this is quite an achievement, don’t you think?
“Tyrants of Wrath” contains eleven songs taking forty-eight minutes and nineteen seconds. And this creativity is dedicated, in contrast to appearances, i.e. the age of musicians, to individuals for whom time and evolution of our beloved kind of music stopped in the early eighties. Well, it’s enough to look at the photo of these four types from under the dark star to know what to expect from their work. And yes, you’re getting good quality old-school thrash/speed metal mostly in German style. It means guys don’t fuck around and attack us with their sharp as razors, but also melodic in German thrash meaning, riffs, insane, aggressive spewing words vocal and rhythm drumming. Of course, which is a truism in the case of the extreme muse Thrash Metal without a shadow of doubt is, you can fully feel this madness alive. That’s why I always have huge difficulties with writing about such creativity. This is not about the fact it’s the most very easy one. The reason is I have great difficulties refraining from headbanging and even one-man-mosh. Anyway, as far as I know, soon all European lovers of such sounds will be able to see it, if they somehow don’t know yet thrash is the best on gigs, for themselves. Phantom comes, together with Brazilian Evilcult for a tour which will take place in September and October. And as the front man of the ensemble said, “You can expect total destruction and absolutely merciless, breakneck performances”, and in my opinion those aren’t only empty threats made just because it’s appropriate to say so. I just know too well the temperament of Metalheads coming from Latin America to believe it.
Either way, before you go, if you’re from Europe and are so lucky to live close to one of the cities where one of eruptions of destruction will take place, at their concert, you just must buy a copy of “Tyrants of Wrath” (and another of Phantom’s items)! You can make a choice between digital album and traditional CD, cassette or even 12”, because German High Roller Records released it as such. Of course, during the shows you’ll also be able to buy all kinds of physical formats or/and t-shirts as well. But if I was in your shoes, I’d absolutely not wait so long, any way you slice this is more or less, it depends on the date of each gig, three months to go, with doing it! And if my writing didn’t give you enough of a view, you can look for this, and of course check it out online before you’ll spend your cash on it.
