Belgrade’s underground metal scene is set for a very special evening as acclaimed New York atmospheric black metal band “Yellow Eyes” has been announced for a concert in the Serbian capital. Known for their emotionally intense and highly intricate approach to black metal, the band arrives in Belgrade following the enormous international success of their latest album “Confusion Gate,” one of the most celebrated extreme metal releases of 2025.
Formed in New York by brothers Will and Sam Skarstad, “Yellow Eyes” has spent more than a decade building a reputation as one of the most innovative names in modern American black metal. While often associated with the atmospheric black metal movement, the band’s music goes far beyond genre conventions, combining dissonant riffing, haunting melodies, layered textures and experimental songwriting into a sound that feels both violent and strangely beautiful.
Their newest album, “Confusion Gate,” received widespread acclaim from metal media and underground critics around the world, appearing on numerous “Album of the Year 2025” lists thanks to its ambitious compositions, emotional depth and immersive production. Many reviewers praised the record for pushing atmospheric black metal into more progressive and experimental territory without sacrificing intensity or rawness.
One particularly interesting aspect of “Yellow Eyes” is their unconventional use of instrumentation and arrangement. Alongside traditional black metal elements, the band frequently incorporates acoustic passages, folk-inspired melodies and dense ambient layers, creating an almost cinematic atmosphere throughout their records. Their music often explores themes of isolation, urban decay, spirituality and human emotion, giving their albums a deeply introspective character rarely found in extreme metal.
Despite originating from New York City, “Yellow Eyes” developed a sound more commonly associated with remote Scandinavian landscapes than urban America, helping them stand out within the global black metal scene. Over the years, the band has become a cult favorite among listeners seeking black metal that emphasizes atmosphere, emotional complexity and artistic experimentation rather than pure aggression alone.
Only physical tickets are available for this concert for the price of 1.500 RSD at Klub “Fest”, “Pivopija”, “Pivski zabavnik” and “Supertramp bar”.
