Norwegian gothic/symphonic metal band Sirenia will perform in Serbia for the very first time on May 4th, celebrating 25 years of the band’s existence with a special concert at Zappa Barka in Belgrade courtesy of Hengtajm agency. The event promises a dark, atmospheric night tailored for fans of melancholic and symphonic metal.

As part of the anniversary celebration, Sirenia will present a career-spanning setlist, combining their most recognizable songs with newer material, including the latest single Nightside Den Known for their emotional intensity and rich orchestral arrangements, the band’s long-awaited debut appearance in Serbia is expected to be a highlight of the spring concert season.

Founded in Stavanger in 2001, Sirenia is the creative vision of Morten Veland, former Tristania guitarist, vocalist, composer, and producer. Conceived as an author-driven project, Sirenia blends heavy guitars with lush orchestrations, choirs, female vocals, harsher male vocals, and occasional electronic elements.

Their debut album At Sixes and Sevens released in 2002 is widely regarded as a cornerstone of gothic metal, while An Elixir for Existence from 2004 further cemented their reputation for dark, emotionally charged compositions. Over the years, Sirenia became known for changes in female vocalists such as Henriette Bordvik, Monika Pedersen and Ailyn with each bringing a distinct character to the band’s evolving sound. Albums like Nine Destinies and a Downfall marked a more melodic turn, while later releases continued to balance symphonic grandeur with modern metal influences. In recent years, vocalist Emmanuelle Zoldan has fronted the band, contributing to a refreshed sound across several well-received albums. Lyrically, Sirenia consistently explores introspective themes such as existential sorrow, inner conflict, depression, and spiritual searching. Despite numerous lineup changes, the band has maintained a strong and recognizable identity, anchored by Veland’s unwavering artistic vision.
