Swedish masters of melancholic metal Katatonia are hitting the road this fall for an extensive European and UK tour, marking a bold new chapter in the band’s evolution. Following a packed summer of festival appearances, the tour will begin on November 11th in Tampere, Finland, and will travel through more than 30 cities before concluding with a homecoming performance on December 20th in Stockholm, Sweden.

Before launching into their headline tour, Katatonia will appear at several major summer festivals. The band is scheduled to perform at Castle Rock Festival in Germany on July 5th, Headbangers’ Weekend in Turkey on July 6th, Ostrów Rock Festival in Poland on July 26th, Rockstadt Extreme Fest in Romania on July 30th and Wondergate Festival in Italy on August 22nd.

The tour will support the release of Katatonia’s upcoming album, “Nightmares as Extensions of the Waking State”, which is set to arrive on June 6th via Napalm Records. The record promises to deepen the band’s exploration of emotional heaviness and atmospheric soundscapes. Additional information about the album, including the tracklist and cover art, is available here.

This new chapter in Katatonia’s career also brings a refreshed lineup. Guitarists Nico Elgstrand and Sebastian Svalland have joined the band, adding new energy to a core lineup that includes Jonas Renkse on vocals, Niklas Sandin on bass, and Daniel Moilanen on drums. With this configuration, the band is preparing to perform both fan favorites and new songs from “Nightmares as Extensions of the Waking State”.

Joining Katatonia on the road will be Evergrey, the renowned progressive metal band, and Klogr, the alternative metal act from Italy. Their presence will provide a rich and varied musical backdrop, making each night of the tour a complete and compelling event.

The fusion of summer festival appearances and the upcoming fall tour signals a bold testament to Katatonia’s ongoing evolution, promising a truly unforgettable and emotionally resonant live journey across Europe. Check the poster below and mark your calendars, you won’t want to miss it!
