Dublin-based metallers The Risen Dread have unleashed their crushing new single “The Day I Died”, the second preview of their upcoming album “Death from Above”, set for release on June 13th, 2025 via Time To Kill Records.
The band commented:
“The song explores the unsettling reality of waking up to what seems like an ordinary day—only to unknowingly walk into death. There are no warnings, no signs, just the quiet inevitability of the end. Lyrically, the track captures the contrast between the routine of life and the sudden, unnoticed arrival of death. The music mirrors this tension, shifting between haunting melodies and crushing intensity, building an atmosphere of quiet dread before plunging into darkness. With its chilling perspective and powerful execution, ‘The Day I Died’ reflects on the fragility of existence, reminding us that the end often comes when we least expect it”.
Produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by Marco Mastrobuono (Fleshgod Apocalypse, Hour Of Penance) at Bloom Studios in Guidonia, Rome, Italy, “Death from Above” marks a significant shift towards a heavier and more aggressive sound. While retaining their signature blend of intensity and melody, the band has incorporated stronger thrash metal and melodic death metal influences, seeking a sharper and more relentless edge.
