In 2013, Rockstadt Extreme Fest was born in Râșnov. Created by passionate fans of the genre, the festival aimed to offer the Romanian audience a truly European experience with internationally acclaimed bands. It began as a three-day event for a relatively small crowd but grew significantly in scale over the years. By 2025, Rockstadt Extreme Fest had earned international recognition, widely regarded as the most important event of its kind in Eastern Europe.
Over time, the festival has steadily expanded the resources available to its audience. The organizers have adapted, innovated, and introduced new solutions to cater to both fans and the hundreds of bands performing. They strive to deliver an experience they believe is truly special. This is a collective effort.
In the past two years, record ticket sales, combined with increasing security and comfort requirements, made it clear that the Biathlon field in Râșnov could no longer accommodate the festival’s needs or its growing stature. Consequently, they have decided that the 2025 edition will be the last held in Râșnov.
“It is not a decision that we made overnight, but rather the result of a situation that we have been studying in detail for a long time. The technical needs behind the scenes, but also the level of production with which the bands want to present themselves to our audience is another essential factor in this decision. The concerts and backstage production have reached a European level and we want to maintain these standards. The 2025 edition will bring improvements on stage, sound and lighting design. At the same time, we do not want to compromise on the safety and comfort of our audience. Our goal was, is and will remain the same. To give our audience the best possible experience.”
A new location has already been secured for the 2026 edition, with details to be announced soon. The new venue will provide a significantly larger area for camping and the festival grounds, as well as more options for hotels and general accommodation. Most importantly, it will allow the organizers to design and create the exact experience they envision for the future of the festival.
“The town administration of Râșnov will give us again this year all the necessary support for the festival. Râșnov has a special place in our story, it is the place where we were born as an event, and from this perspective we have shown our interest and willingness to create a smaller brother of Rockstadt Extreme Fest that will stay in Râșnov. Specifically, an event that will take place at the beginning of June 2026, in the current area of the Andrei Calmuc stage. We can confirm that this proposal was also accepted by the Râșnov City Hall.
We have been assured that efforts will be made also to supplement the metropolitan lines via Brașov-Râșnov and return, so that access and transportation between the two locations will be easy.
At the same time, the space for this year’s edition will also be enlarged to ensure the comfort and technical production we want.
Rockstadt Extreme Fest 2025 will be the last edition in Râșnov. It is a hard-worked edition, and a really special poster. It is our pride as a scene and a community. Everything we do was and will always be for the public. We believe that in Râșnov we wrote history and we want this last edition to be truly LEGENDARY.
