This Spanish found in 2003 and based in Spain’s capital city ensemble also don’t fuck around, takes no fucking prisoners! But do it a little otherwise than Necrogenesis. Songs are in the most, to be honest, only one is very short and energetic as fuck, much longer. All I have to do here is to say that seven songs last almost, without two seconds, fifty-two minutes. So, you can draw a conclusion from this that the creativity of Spanish is definitely more focused on melody. However, it should be noted that this melody is understood in a slightly different way than usual. I mean, that’s totally insane, dark and certainly capable of destroying the psyche of less resilient individuals. They just risk, and even greatly, that their senses will be confused and will never again return to safe reality. To put it bluntly, they’ll simply go crazy and may need hospitalization in a mental institution for life. Fortunately, we who’re metalheads, in love with various types of musical extremes, are different. For us this sonic storm, these tortures using riffs and several guitar tricks to drill holes in our heads are a real delight! Of course, it doesn’t mean we’re dealing with the fourth full-length of Teitanblood with hypersonic speed the whole time. This applies primarily to the track ending “From the Visceral Abyss”. I’m talking here about “Tomb Corpse Haruspex” which takes almost fifteen minutes, where guys torment us with a hellish atmosphere instead.
Anyway, it’s not as easy as pie. I mean, the tempo changes quite often, which makes these really long compositions (apart from the two mentioned, each of them lasts an average of seven minutes and twenty seconds) interesting and, even if it sounds at least bizarre in this case, easy to listen to. Well, sometimes while listening to this, and other, items, I have serious doubts if J, who’s a drummer in Teitanblood, is even human. You know, he beats up drums and cymbals like he had at least four hands and it happens quite often in every entire song. They dispel a bit during these slower, and in specific sense, atmospheric parts, which, of course, probably, (I didn’t count the one with stopwatch in my hand, but I still feel like that, constitute even a larger part in every track. At the same time, I must make it clear for you that this atmosphere is as destructive to maintaining mental balance (in normal individuals) as these crazy pieces. And that’s something completely different than most of you expect to hear, or in this case read, the word “atmospheric” referring to black metal.
Yes, in my opinion this music is primarily black metal. And die-hard fans of this genre, just after taking a look at the band’s logo, most likely know what they should expect. This means they can stop to read my scribble, because it’s as dark as a night that they’ll fall in love, if somehow they don’t know yet this Spanish ensemble, in Teitanblood like I did. You can also find some elements of death, and maybe even something else, but I think they play a secondary role here. That’s why I recommend buying this released March 28th by French Norma Evangelium Diaboli album to people who love creativity worshiping darkness, evil and in general all possible abominations! You can choose, what became a proud tradition, on what medium you want to have “From the Visceral Abyss” – 12”, CD or maybe digital. The rest probably shouldn’t even come close to it, although that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t check it out! I absolutely encourage you to do so, but at the same time I must warn you that this may result in serious consequences, so be careful my friends.
