Norwegian singer-songwriter Sivert Høyem is set to return to Belgrade on September 15, for a special concert at Zappa Barka, thanks to “Rock svirke” agency. Known for his unmistakable deep baritone voice and emotionally charged performances, Høyem will once again bring his dark, atmospheric blend of alternative rock and Scandinavian melancholy to Serbian audiences.

Best known as the frontman of the legendary Norwegian rock band “Madrugada”, Høyem built a devoted international following during the late 1990’s and early 2000’s with albums such as “Industrial Silence and “The Nightly Disease. Following the tragic death of “Madrugada” guitarist Robert Burås in 2007, the band disbanded shortly afterward, leading Høyem to focus entirely on his solo career — a move that resulted in some of the most critically acclaimed Scandinavian rock albums of the past two decades.

The upcoming Belgrade concert arrives during an important period in Høyem’s career. In 2026, the artist celebrates his 50th birthday, while his solo albums “Exiles and “Lioness mark their 20th and 10th anniversaries respectively. At the same time, Høyem continues promoting his more recent releases “On an Island and “Dancing Headlights, records praised for their cinematic songwriting and intimate atmosphere.

One particularly interesting fact about Høyem’s creative process is that “On an Island was recorded inside a small chapel in the remote Norwegian village of Nyksund, near the Arctic Circle. Most of the album was captured live with minimal studio effects, giving it an organic and hauntingly authentic sound that perfectly complements his signature style.

Over the years, critics have frequently compared Høyem’s vocal delivery to artists such as Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen thanks to its rich emotional depth and dark tonal quality. Despite these comparisons, Høyem has developed a unique identity that combines classic rock influences with Nordic noir aesthetics.

Fans attending the Belgrade show can expect a carefully selected setlist featuring solo favorites like “Moon Landing,” “Prisoner of the Road,” and “Into The Sea,” alongside beloved Madrugada classics including “Majesty.”

Tickets are available online through rocksvirke for the price of 3.000 RSD for early bird buyers, while regular tickets will cost 3.600 RSD until the 15th of September, while the price at the door will be 4.200 RSD.
